Everything you need to know about buying and selling logs, lumber, and forestry products on JMLogMarket.

Browsing listings is completely free and requires no account. Free accounts get 1 listing per month — no commissions ever, regardless of plan. For sellers who need more active listings, paid plans (Basic, Pro, and Elite) are available at affordable monthly rates. See our Plans page for current pricing.

No account needed to browse listings, search by species or location, or contact sellers. You can view all listings and call or email sellers directly without signing up. An account is only required if you want to post listings or advertise a forestry service.

You can sell logs (sawlogs, veneer logs, pulpwood), lumber (rough-sawn, kiln-dried, dimensional, flooring, decking, siding, timbers, slabs), poles and posts, firewood, and mill byproducts like wood chips, sawdust, bark, and pellets. All hardwood and softwood species are welcome — White Oak, Red Oak, Poplar, Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Ash, Hickory, Beech, Pine, and more.

Free accounts include 1 listing per month. If you need more active listings at the same time, you can upgrade to a Basic, Pro, or Elite plan. Plans are billed monthly through Stripe and can be canceled anytime — no contracts or cancellation fees. There are never any commissions on your sales. See the Plans page for current pricing and listing limits.

Create a free account, then go to the Sell page and fill out the form — species, grade, quantity, location, price, and your contact info. You can add photos directly from your phone or computer. Listings with photos get significantly more calls. Your listing goes live immediately.

Your phone number and email are shown on your listing. Buyers call or text you directly — no middleman, no platform fee on the transaction. You negotiate price, pickup, and logistics directly. Buyers can also send you a message through the built-in messaging system on the platform.

Buyer requests let mills, buyers, and landowners post exactly what they're looking for — species, quantity, timing, and location. Sellers can browse these requests and reach out directly to buyers who are actively searching. No account is needed to post or browse buyer requests. Visit the Buyer Requests page to see current requests or post your own.

Yes. Our log hauling companies directory lists truckers you can search by location. If you're a trucker or hauling company, list your service for free while we grow — reviewed within 24 hours before going live.

Log in and go to My Listings in your account. From there you can edit any listing details, update photos, change the price, or mark it sold. Sold listings are removed from search results so buyers don't call on timber that's already gone.

Sellers can list using any common scale: Doyle, Scribner, International 1/4", or by the ton. Most Kentucky and Ohio mills use Doyle scale. When posting, select which scale you're using so buyers can accurately compare. If you're unsure, Doyle is the standard for the Appalachian region.

White Oak is currently the most in-demand species due to strong demand from bourbon barrel cooperages, flooring manufacturers, and furniture makers. Red Oak, Walnut, Cherry, and Hard Maple are also consistently strong. Poplar/Yellow Poplar moves well in volume for lumber and plywood. Ash, Hickory, and Beech have niche but steady demand. See our Pricing Guide for regional benchmarks.

Log prices vary by species, grade, diameter, length, and market conditions. White Oak veneer logs command the highest prices; pulpwood and low-grade mixed hardwood sells for considerably less. Browse active listings to see what sellers in your area are asking, and check our Pricing Guide for regional benchmarks. Prices are typically quoted per MBF (thousand board feet) on Doyle scale or per ton.

It varies by species and location. Prime species like Black Walnut and White Oak in Appalachian states often draw calls within 24-72 hours of posting. Lower-grade mixed hardwood or remote locations can take longer. Posting detailed photos, accurate volume estimates, and a clear price meaningfully speeds up buyer response. Since launch, our top-engagement listing drew 5 phone taps in its first three weeks.
